From: cgf AT bbc DOT com (Christopher Faylor) Subject: Copying cygwin DLL forked data/bss 9 Feb 1998 07:47:12 -0800 Message-ID: Reply-To: cygwin32-developers AT cygnus DOT com To: cygwin32-developers AT cygnus DOT com The copying of the data and bss segments is '#if 0' right now. If you remove the #if 0, then fork apparently doesn't work correctly. I've carefully gone through and added NO_COPY's to all of the places where I thought it made no sense in the sources and now things seem to work better. In fact, things seem a little faster. Possibly this is due to the fact that the passwd and group files are no longer being read in the forked process if they were read in the parent. Wasn't it a goal of this fix to copy the data in the cygwin dll? -- http://www.bbc.com/ cgf AT bbc DOT com "Strange how unreal VMS=>UNIX Solutions Boston Business Computing the real can be."
