Let's go for it. I have mixed feelings about it but people on the list did seem to prefer the single environment variable so let's do that. FYI, I'm getting compile errors with the winsup.h in the last snapshot. It looks like some dependencies aren't correct because I rebuilt fine with the change but when I rebuilt from scratch I had problems.
