Some work had been made by Peter Brett and then reverted
by Peter Clifton. I did not closely look at it, though.

There are three temporary branches in the geda-gaf repository,
which could probably shed some light on this:
  _config_api_migration_option1
  _config_api_migration_option2
  _reverted_config_migration
